The rod allows me to feel even the slightest nibble and subtlest movements of the fish, which significantly increases my hook-up rate. It's as if I'm in direct communication with the fish, and that connection is priceless for any angler. The Nano technology in this rod is a game-changer. It's incredibly lightweight, making it easy to cast accurately and comfortably for extended periods. This is especially important when I'm on long fishing trips. I've had my 8 weight for about four years now and I love it. It casts an eight or nine weight line with ease in a variety of conditions. Queenies, mangrove jack, various trevally, flathead, thread fin salmon and giant herring have all been taken on this rod. It's speed and lightness mean I can cast repeatedly without too much fatigue. I do have some trouble casting larger flies however, (especially into the wind) so for this reason I will shortly be ordering a #10 now they are available.
I am an avid fly fisherman and have purchased Mikes rods, reels, Waders and gear for over 14 yrs. 3-4 yrs ago I purchased a Nano 10 wt rod which I used up north. All his gear is top notch
Hi Mike I’ve just returned from fishing in Mongolia and the 8 weight performed well casting large flies and accounting for around 15 Taimen I became a huge fan of your nano discovery rods when I started using them at Christmas Island chasing bone fish. I still have the IM 10 Discovery six weight which I've landed over 300 bone on up to 9lb. I've also landed a handful of GTs upto 10lb on the six weight. The biggest problem I have is getting enough backing on the discovery reel its matched with. In my opinion they perform better than Loop and Orvis rods I've used. Which is high praise indeed.
